can police search a locked safe that you have in your house if they have a warrent? can you say you lost the key?
If the police have a search warrant for your house, it’ll include a clause that they can search everything in there too. (And if, by some oversight, they’ve forgotten it, a phone call to the judge will clear that up.)
You’re perfectly welcome to say anything you like about the key. This will not prevent the police from summoning a helpful locksmith or simply taking it back to the station to open later.
