Police Station Bar?

In a story about two gay officers getting hitched, on Milton Keynes Today online, the article mentions a “police station bar”. Do stations in the UK have their own bar?

The article

Well, we’d heard the Police served Old Baileys.

Seems that since they did away with Policemans’ Balls, the cops are holding onto their bars with both hands.

Maybe they really meant this place http://www.restaurant-guide.com/details/default.asp?rID=43817&ID=1322&path=12,17,56,1322&cuiID=42?

That’s all I can think. (After all most bars aren’t called bars anyway.)

Most neighborhoods that have a cop shop also have a local bar where the cops go after work to wind down.

Such bars are occasionaly (very occasionaly) the targets of attempted robberies.

Note the use of the word “attempted”. This is the source of very many funny stories.

Well, yeah but I sincerly doubt such an establishment would be called the police station
bar in England.

Many police stations have canteen facilities. I can imagine one being converted into a bar for a night with a few boxes of beer.

I can imagine that a police HQ or other large station may well have a bar. It perhaps wouldn’t be open normally, but operate on a ‘special events licence’ (or whatever the new equivalent is), so they can hold social events such as this within their own building.
