Political punditry ... what we've learned

Here’s what Trump had going against him:

Demographics: he started his campaign by pissing off Hispanics, and everybody knows the nation is getting browner. Demographics is destiny.
Endorsements: a complete shut out. Hillary had every newspaper in the country. Trump couldn’t even get endorsements from Republicans in Congress.
Organization: all the shakeups in the Trump campaign staff indicate massive disarray and confusion.
GOTV: Hillary was a well-organized, well-funded machine. Donald couldn’t organize a 2-car funeral.
Literati: a constant stream of essays on why Trump would be a disaster.
Debates: Hillary won all 3, and debates are important.

All that Trump had going for him were large and enthusiastic rallies.

So does this completely shake up everything that a professional political pundit thinks he knows about how elections work? If it’s your job to go on camera and pontificate about the 2018 mid-terms, are you afraid to open your mouth?

Don’t forget, he has absolutely *zero *political experience, and has in fact shown that he doesn’t even know how the government works.

Frankly, I have no idea how future elections are going to work, except that they’ll just be more of a popularity contest than they’ve already been.
