Poll: A little dab'll do ya'

At lunch just now, someone asked me to pass them the Tabasco, saying, “I only need a little bit.” I replied, “Yep, a little dab’ll do ya!”

Answering without reading the responses:

Brylcreem, a little dab’ll do ya.
Brylcreem, you rub it in your hair.
Brylcreem, the girls’ll all pursue ya.

And I don’t remember the last line of the jingle.

I don’t know how I know that, but I do.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen the commercial but I’ve watched enough “greatest commercial jingles ever” type shows that I’m sure that’s where I’ve heard it.

What it really makes me think of though, is this comic, a very rotund dude whose name escapes me. Anyway, he was talking about LSD I think. He laughingly said, oh, and the voice of experience here, the dosage is NOT based on weight!!! A knowing howl of laughter from about 50% of the audience was followed by him saying “Yeah, a little dab’ll do 'ya!”

I’m pretty naive about these things, but even I had a hilarious vision of him running around like a crazy person. I’m sure that’ll be my primary association with the phrase for life.

Let’s not forget Vitalis either. At one point this past year I was curious about what effect it might have on one’s beard, so I bought a bottle. While I didn’t find it to be of any benefit, I do nevertheless leave the bottle out on the bathroom counter just for grins. Remends me of my grandads. Both of them used to smell of Vitalis and Old Spice.
