Poll: Favourite Comedy Panel show (UK)

I’m stuck at home with a herniated disc, so after what has been written in this thread I gave WILTY a go.

How the hell did this one slip under my radar? I LOVE it.

I know, RIGHT?!

I think it’s weird that, IMHO, no one on that show has ever seemed to be a bad liar. Lying must be an entire session of Acting 101 (well, duh I guess). But not everyone is a trained actor, either.

Lots of times when you think someone is obviously telling a lie, and they are doing badly at it, it turns out to be the TRUTH. It is made better by the fact that the rest of the panel is all “this can’t be true, it’s so absurd!”

Here’s Kevin Bridges accidentally bought a horse.

When I was last in the UK I watched Would I Lie To You and found it to be good fun. I think it would have been much more entertaining if I knew more about your celebrities, but it was still fun.

Of course, the night before had an hour long show about a man training his dog to herd sheep, so I was starved for entertainment.

Yeah, one of the things that really reminds me that I have been out of the UK for ages now (almost 11 years) is that increasingly often I watch a panel show and have no idea who the guests are.

I am a little surprised that WILTY seems so popular here. I have seen it a few times, and while I didnt dislike it, it seemed to be a bit of a one trick pony to me. The premise (try to spot if the story is a lie or not) seems like something that would be only one round in another quiz show.

As I say, I didnt dislike it, but to me its too limited to have the appeal of a QI or “They think its all over”.

The premise isn’t really very important to a panel show. The quality of the host and team captains, especially their relationship and hence banter between them, followed up with the quality of the guests are what is important. The premise is just an excuse to get them in a room joking about stuff.

QI is streets ahead of the others, not only does it make me laugh but I’ve learned alot of interesting, if useless, information as well.
