Poll: Filthier public restroom, Mens or Ladies room?

The filth that isn’t due to menstruation.

I’ll say this… any men’s restroom where the habitual denizens take dumps regularly will have seats at least clean enough to sit on, even if the floor in front of the urinals and toilets is awash with urine. Somehow peer pressure, or some sort of reciprocity instinct takes hold.

I’ve seen this in high school boy’s locker rooms, professional offices, scout camps, football stadiums, you name it.

It’s places where men primarily just pee that get nasty; nobody goes and takes craps at bars often, so they get nasty.
I think in a perverse way, women’s squeamishness with poop and pee is responsible for the nastier state- it’s a vicious circle. They hover over the seat to keep clean, they get some on it, they are ooged out by the idea of cleaning it, so they leave it, causing the next woman to repeat.

If they’d just plant their asses on the seat, they’d all keep them cleaner.

Yeah, but they don’t piss on the walls like the guys do.

I’ve had jobs where I’ve had to clean mens’ and womens’ restrooms, and the womens’ restrooms are ALWAYS dirtier. I saw at least two floaters a day in the womens’ rooms; one or two a month in the mens’. Pee everywhere, blood, dirty tampons on the floor, etc.

Yeah, women’s rooms are way worse.

For a while, the IT guys (me included) at our shop doubled in facilities as we didn’t have those folks on-site. We had far more troubles with the ladies room. When we mentioned this to the real facilities guys, we were told this was par for the course: the ladies room was ALWAYS worse.

I’m another person who did various janitorial work back in the day, and and I can testify that in my personal experience, women’s rooms were always much worse. They’re more likely to hover, build ass-gaskets and throw paper (along with more disgusting things) on the floor.

The amount of paper towels on the floor surprised me. You don’t see that in men’s rooms. My theory on that is that it’s because males are biologically compelled to “shoot baskets” into the trash cans.

yeah

I don’t know about the ladies restrooms as I do not frequent them. The dirtiest place I ever saw was a month ago in a unisex Portajohn in the park near a playscape. I should have been on guard more to begin with. The second I opened the door and stepped in, I was standing in poop. It was on the walls, floor and seat. I did my standing business in disgust and spent a good deal of time sanitizing my shoes.

The “hover pee” has to be a big part of it. For those that are unfamiliar, it’s when you hover with your butt above the toilet seat while peeing rather than actually sitting on it, because it’s dirty (probably due to other women doing the hover pee). Due to how female anatomy is designed, this tends to result in pee spraying on the seat. Which causes the next person to hover pee, which results in more spray, etc. Some people have the manners to wipe up the seat if they’re going to do this, but many don’t. Because the seat is dirty.

I think 90% of the mess in women’s rooms has to be due to menstruation-related reasons. However, then there are the women that are just deranged or something. Like in the last public restroom I was in, where somebody had wiped their ass after taking a dump and then put the crap-stained paper on the floor behind the toilet instead of in it. I mean, WTF?

Port-a-potties are hell on earth. I would rather go in the woods.

I’ve seen blood and feces smeared on the cubicle walls of my office toilet. If that’s what goes on in a place where people are paid to be professional, I have no doubt that women can be the ickier sex when it comes to bathroom cleanliness. We used to come out and warn each other which cubicles it was safe to use. (in saying that, since we’ve moved offices the issue hasn’t come up again, so it could have been a rogue user).

Yes, they do, actually. Maybe not as high as the men do, but yes, I’ve seen piss on the walls in women’s toilets.

When I cleaned Wendy’s Bathroom (off an interstate exit), the mens room smelled worse and had more piss on the floor, but the womens room had more piss on the toilets/ dirtier toilets and all sorts of crap on the floor that was rarely in the mens room - bits of toilet paper, wrappers, etc.
