Poll for men: How do you (have you) tie(d) your tie?

That’s “He’s smiling at you, Beavis.” Not without reason.

I don’t get this at all.

Eh, never mind. I just thought saying “other” was boring, so I came up with something silly.

and obscure! Bounus points!

Just learned the Small. I like it a lot with my 18" neck, as it gives a little extra length on the back end to tuck into the label.

Glad I ran across this thread, I suppose I’ll spend an hour at home tonight practicing ties…

I have always used four-in-hand, beause that was the one I wore in the military. Also, I believe that it is one of the knots that doesn’t use up as much of the tie length in the knot.

So I gather from what I have read above that the Pratt and Small knots might also work well for someone with a long torso?

Also, I always wear a tie chain…becaue I rarely have enough tail leftover to tuck into the label.

Forgot the bolo, Bevis :D.

The Pratt knot was what I settled on a couple of years back when looking for a new job (and wearing suits to interviews). I’d been taught four-in-hand as a kid but never liked it, and the bulkier knots left me with a tie / torso ratio such that the tie looked like I’d tucked a table napkin into my collar.

The Partt produced a small, neat, balanced knot while leaving a decent amount of tie and worked well with my favourite very lightweight tie. It didn’t work so well with a heavier tie but fortunately after actually getting the new job polo shirts and jeans are daily wear.
