So, I was reading a history of polling numbers on whether Americans want the Electoral College replaced by a National Popular Vote. No shocker that immediately following 2000, Democrats were more in favor than Republicans. Then the idea gained some traction with Republicans as time passed, and I’d assume that with current events, there’d again be a difference in preference based on party.
But I was looking as the historical data and noticed a jump in in the late 1960s? Does anyone know what that’s about? And why did the numbers decrease through the 1970s? Have to see if I can find the 1980-2000 numbers, too.
Now, this is only Gallup - does anyone know of any other polling company web sites that would have their histories up?
