Poll: Is Atheism Logical?

Like Molly, I say yes.

It depends **why **the person is an atheist.

Absolutely.

Sure

As logical as the alternatives.

Yes.

Not if “God” includes the possibility of punishment for being an atheist…

Of course. “Logical” does not necessarily equal correct, but absolutely logical, yes.

At least as much as anything else.

yes

It’s absolutely logical, just as faith is an absolutely logical way to explain the inexplicable.

Yes, it’s logical in the sense that there’s nothing inherently illogical about it.

However, you cannot prove by logic that atheists are correct.

But you also certainly can’t prove by logic that any religion is correct. Some seem (to me) almost to go against logic, but people’s basic assumptions vary so much that this is pretty much impossible to prove as well.

You know it.

Yes

No and Yes.

A theist must believe that god does not exist just as an athiest must believe that god does not exist. This is simply the nature of what we speak of. Atheists do have their one rebuttal, however, which is the inherent contradiction in religion being, “If the theistic god is perfect goodness, how can there be so much evil?” Drag it out as long as you like. There is no good answer to this. That said, if anything it only discredits a theistic god, but does not speak of non-theistic gods.

It’s certainly a lot more logical than the nonsense that my fundamentalist parents believe. If they turn out to be right, then God must be if one fucked up mofo, and I don’t want anything to do with him. If he sends me to the fiery pit for all eternity for feeling that way, then I think I’ve proved my point.

Yes.

Yes.

Alterego: wrong

Yup.

Whoops I did put an extra ‘not’ in there didn’t I. Just amusing the agnostics that all
