After a very long discussion, many moons ago here on the SDMB, I concluded that regular (soft) atheism = agnosticism. Hard atheism is the one that is not logical.
So yes, atheism is logical.

Although I’m a bit worried about those theories that the eye (and certain types of bird) proves evolution was wrong.
Lobsang, those theories are fallacious. Read The Panda’s Thumb by Stephen Jay Gould.
For me, atheism is logical, given a) the proliferation of contradictory religions, b) the lack of evidence, c) that we’re just another animal in a long evolutionary line of non-religious animals; we just happen to be sentient.
That said, the theories relating to quantum physics and the origin of the universe also appear way-out, but at least they are subject to change and desirous of evidence.
You won’t hear the pope saying “I was wrong” like Hawking did recently.
