You’re brain is a predictive engine. It is constantly anticipating sensory input based on last input plus experience etc. Signals are flowing up and down the layers of processing in anticipation of the predicted input.
If there is any sensory awareness of an approaching touch (visual, limb movements, etc.) then it’s possible (maybe even likely) that the neurons are responding to the anticipation of the calculated event.
Have people who say yes tried this anywhere else on their faces? Because I feel something, but if I put my finger the same distance away on other spots on my forehead or even my cheeks I feel exactly the same thing - likely heat from my finger.
