Idle question, came to me mainly from another board where banned people have their account and all posts removed from the board (unlike here where we can see banned users’ posts), but, since I believe socks are treated like that here (account and all posts as sock removed) I’ll use this as the example. If I’m wrong, perhaps someone can answer based on such a situation (since, as I said, I know other vBB boards remove banned posters)
Let’s say someone uses their sock to vote on a poll. Sometime later, their sock is uncovered by a mod, and the account and all the sock’s posts are deleted. Is that sock’s vote in that poll deleted as well (and the subsequent count on that option goes down one)?
I’ve asked before if the Mods or Administrators were able to tell how people vote in polls, and they said no. (Or so they said!) So I’m guessing they wouldn’t know if or how a sock voted, at least in private polls.
Not saying that they’d know how they voted, but if a sock’s account is removed, all posts associated with the sock account automatically get removed with it, I don’t think they individually remove each post by the sock. I’m wondering if poll options are the same.
The only way I could think of to answer my question is to start a poll and a sock account, answer the poll as my sock, and have the sock removed, but starting a sock account is against forum regulations. That or ask here.
Right, but I’m still thinking no. The system can find and recognize the posts automatically, but based on what the Mods said, the poll votes cannot be identified with any particular poster. The system does know if I’ve voted in a poll, but I don’t think it would know which vote to remove.
