In my family, one sister is for Obama and one for McCain, but neither lives in a swing state. My parents live in Ohio; my mother will probably vote for McCain and my father will probably abstain.

I live in a Red State (Arizona). I’m registered to vote and so is my husband, for the first time since he is a new citizen. We both intend to vote for Obama.

Of course McCain will win here, he’s a local!

Most of my friends and family plan to vote for Obama, but I live in the liberal center or the most liberal city in the state. It won’t make any difference.

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)? Swing.

  2. Are you registered to vote? Yes

  3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom? Obama

  4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state? Obama

  5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?

Family: 2/3 for Obama, 1/3 for McCain
Co-workers: 100% for Obama (work for a union)
Friends: Not counting the co-workers I consider friends, I’d say 2/3 for McCain. (Most of my non-work friends are hunters and/or closeted racists, and will not vote for Obama. Needless to say we either avoid politics or get into nasty arguements.)

  1. Swing state, Virginia. But for the last 30 years or so VA has voted Republican.

  2. Yes, registered

  3. Probably vote for McCain. :frowning:

  4. McCain will probably win

  5. About 50% will vote, probably for McCain.

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?

Swing State - Virginia

  1. Are you registered to vote?

Yup.

  1. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?

I intend to vote, but I don’t know who yet. I consider myself independent and I’ve been wavering back and forth between Obama and McCain as I learn more about each.

  1. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?

Probably McCain, as Virginia has been Republican for a long time. But Northern Virginia is getting more and more liberal and there’s a greater concentration of voters up here so it wouldn’t surprise me if Obama squeaked out a win either.

  1. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?

All my relatives are conservatives, so they’ll vote McCain. Most of my friends are liberal, so they’ll vote Obama, but my friends are less likely to care enough to vote.

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?
    AZ - Red

  2. Are you registered to vote?
    Yes

  3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?
    Yes, Obama

  4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?
    Likely McCain

  5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?
**Circle of friends **= 90% will be voting Obama, 5% will be voting McCain, 5% will likely not vote

**Family **= 90% voting McCain, 10% voting Obama (I think she’s doing it in secret, the family would be so disappointed)

Co-Workers = The 4 I’m closest to are all voting. 3 definitely for Obama, one undecided (she may not vote)

  1. NM - Often called swing, polling suggests it’s going Obama easily.

  2. Yes

  3. Yes; Obama

  4. Probably Obama

  5. I’m sure my family is voting Obama; I tend not to talk politics with friends and coworkers, but based on age I’d guess most are voting Obama if they vote at all.

1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?
Red/swing - Florida

2. Are you registered to vote?
Yes.

3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?
Yes, Obama.

4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?
McCain

5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?
Friends and family with whom I’ve discussed the issue are overwhelmingly for Obama. I think even my 92-year-old long-time Republican grandfather is voting for Obama. Of course, he’s up in RI, where it matters less.

1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)? Virginia is generally a red state but considered a swing state this time.

2. Are you registered to vote? Yes

3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom? Almost certainly third party, and most likely Libertarian. I haven’t done enough research yet to determine who for sure.

4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state? They say Virginia is a swing state, but they said that last time too and IIRC Bush won with a 10% margin in 2004. I don’t buy it one bit, and I would be thoroughly surprised if McCain didn’t win Virginia.

5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?

Friends - Probably about a third McCain, a third Obama, and a third will either vote third party, literally throw it away, or just plain not vote.
Family - Probably about half McCain, and most of the rest voting third party or not voting. I only know one family member that I’d expect to vote for Obama (though I have not actually raised the subject).
Co-Workers - Easily 90-95% McCain, probably higher. But I’m a government contractor and work on a military base, so go figure.

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?
    Swing - New Mexico.

  2. Are you registered to vote?
    Yes.

  3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom
Absolutely, for Obama. (And for the first time I’m going to do it in person, not by absentee. How exciting.)

  4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?
Obama. But I’m in the most liberal town in the state.

  5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?
Probably 90% Obama. A few (crackpot, IMO) relatives and friends are for McCain. At least two of my peers are effectively refusing to vote - one refuses to register and another plans on writing in a vote for Ron Paul.

1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?

Montana, currently considered red

2. Are you registered to vote?

Yes

3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?

Yes, for Obama

4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?

My vantage point is skewed, being in a college town. Judging from yard signs, buttons, bumper stickers, etc., about 90% of the town supports Obama, with McCain in about fifth place, after Hillary Clinton, Ron Paul, and Dwight D. Eisenhower (yes, I’ve actually seen an “I Like Ike” button a couple of months ago). But the rural areas of Montana, and the non-college towns, swing pretty hard right. So I don’t know.
**
5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom? **

Several of my friends and co-workers are foreign nationals, but other than them, all that I know of intend to vote, and all that I know of support Obama. None of my family are in-state, but they’re probably about 65% for Obama (hard to judge, since several of them categorically refuse to discuss politics).

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?
    Blue.

  2. Are you registered to vote?
    Yes.

  3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?
Still unsure between Obama or a write in Green Party candidate.

  4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?
    Obama, easily.

  5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?
Obama or a third party candidate.

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)?
    Blue (CA)

  2. Are you registered to vote?
    Yes.

  3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?
Probably not. I don’t really care for either of the candidates, and I’m not really all that jazzed about voting for some third-party candidate who doesn’t have a chance in hell to win.

  4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?
    Most likely Obama.

  5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom?
I haven’t really asked them, but I’d guess from their political leanings that most of my friends would be for Obama, and most of my family (on both sides) for McCain.

  1. Swing state (Ohio) that generally leans red but since 2006 has been trending a lot bluer on statewide elections and issues.

  2. I am a registered voter and have been since I was 18.

  3. I plan to vote for Barack Obama.

  4. It’s too close to tell, but I’m guessing McCain. Too many racists.

  5. I’d say most will vote, and most for Obama. My co-workers skew that one greatly–I work for the Public Defender’s office, not exactly a hotbed of conservativism. Most of my husband’s family leans Democrat (with even one of the registered Republicans switching to Obama after the Palin pick because she felt insulted). My parents are Republicans, but live in NY.

  1. Do you live in a Red State, Blue State or Swing State (to date)? Blue- PA

  2. Are you registered to vote?
    No

  3. Do you intend to vote, and if so, for whom?
    No

  4. From your vantage point, in your state, who do you think will win in your state?
    Obama

  5. From your circle of friends, family and co-workers, what percentage intend to vote this year and for whom? Dunno. 70%? Even split, but I’m a PoliSci major so I tend to hear many vocal arguments for each side.
