Poll: What percentage of this board has smoked pot... ever

Oh yeah… me and the ganj are old buddies.

I’m another never, and that goes for cigarettes too; I’ll be 29 Monday.

On the other hand, I’ve seen it and I know what it smells like too. I even know why some folks label things 420.

Of the two, though, pot is more tempting. There’s a horrendous family history of cancer on my mom’s side (My mom’s had it, every one of the 4 girls in my grandmother’s family got cancer, and it goes back generations before, too) so that’s scared me away from the cigarettes. If pot became legal I might risk a potential asthma attack to try it - even if it’s “4 times as carsogenic as tobacco” as those anti-drug spots claim who the hell smokes enough pot to be anywhere near the equivalent to a pack or two of cigarettes a day? I’d rather pot be legal than alcohol, but no politicians are asking me.

In my experience, all the people I know who smoke pot regularly are in a groove…that is…they are going nowhere. Success is not on their agenda. No exceptions. They are only passionate about one thing…defending their right to smoke pot.

That said, I did try it once. Lost 3 hours of my life.

Herb friendly, 420 positive!

I’ve never smoked anything, pot or otherwise. It’s not a moral issue to me - I’d totally be in favor of legalization, because I think it does a lot of good for a lot of people and isn’t any worse than alcohol - and I’m probably the only one of my friends who’s never smoked pot (I always figured I’d try it sometime, but never felt like the moment was right). However, I’m a tad asthmatic, and discovered that my lungs really don’t like smoke, and pot smoke is even worse than cigarette smoke.

Of course, where did I discover my horrible reaction to secondhand pot smoke? At a Grateful Dead concert in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin, with no way of getting home until the next day.

(One of the funnier moments of my life was on a road trip home from college with my grandparents, when they revealed that my aunt had given them some pot to try to calm down my notoriously hyper and energetic grandfather. They said they’d tried it, but it didn’t do anything for them and they didn’t see what the big deal was. Sigh…my grandparents had lit up, and I still haven’t.)

Sure, among other things.

I tried several times…I just didn’t get anything out of it. Never felt giggly or spacey or anything. I was disappointed.

Never used pot (never even seen it).

Never smoked cigarettes (never drunk coffee either  ).

Atheist / chess player, went to London University in the 70’s.

Several times- all legal! You see, in Amsterdam (until January 2006) it was legal for foreigners to buy pot for personal use in any of the many “coffee bars” scattered around. So yeah.

Quite a bit in the late '70s. Not so much in the last ten years. Did enjoy it.

I’ve never tried it. Never even tried a cigarette for that matter…

Used to…back in the 70’s and 80’s. But I don’t anymore. I liked it except for the way my eyes would get so dried out.

Many, many times, but I quit about 15 years ago. It began to hurt my lungs … and the older I got, the more I became afraid of being caught. More to lose, and all that. It just wasn’t worth it.

I haven’t read all 4 pages of these thread, too long. I am responding with a resounding YES however.

Smoked it 2-3 times a year for 3-4 years and figured that it wasn’t addictive (at least not compared to cigarettes).

Started smoking regularly after quitting tobacco. Hasn’t affected my grades and it helps when I’m feeling down.

I think that, ironically, those people who never try weed because they are afraid to lose control over themselves are the ones who are most in need of it.

Best.Quote.Ever!

Is it yours?

Yup, thats the behavior…not only do they constantly justify their own regular use of it, but they try to get others into the groove too. Its like swirling around in a toilet, grabbing everyone you can to pull down with you.

Grades arent slipping…but my guess is they arent improving either. And your goals are probably linked to getting more time to smoke more dope.

What can also help you when you are feeling down is a feeling of accomplishment. Acheiving personal goals, small at first, then more and more. You are probably capable of more than you know. Dope is not your friend. Its that guy that always hangs around and asks to borrow cash, sits on your couch watching tv and eats all your food, and doesnt ever pick up a check.

I’ve smoked it some with friends, but I’ll submit this opinion–it’s an extremely overrated drug. It basically does nothing for me, outside of mellowing me a bit. I’d rather drink any day, really. Booze can take you anywhere that you want to be.

I have never tried pot or any other drug. I have walked through clouds of pot smoke–having lived in Berkeley for several years, it was rather unavoidable–and it never failed to give me a sore throat.

Yup, thats the behavior…not only do they constantly have a bug up their butt, but they try to keep others from their groove too. Its like spiralling up to beatitude, grabbing everyone you can to listen to your pontificating.

My apologies in advance; I promise I’ll not respond again. But it is a poll, after all. :wally
