Poll: When was the last time you raised an eyebrow?

I am left-browed but right-handed.

Sadly, I raise my brow all the time where I work. Just a few minutes ago as a matter of fact because a sales rep had written in an ad form that they wanted "A Real Broked Spring’ pictured in the ad.

And nobody asked why?

Oh, wait, it’s lieu.

(This is literally the thought process that went through my mind, along with the phrase prehensile rectum.)

Well, I probably raised a few when I got caught outside doing kinky sex in the Rockies and… oh, sorry.

I raise my left eyebrow sometimes when I hear or read something suspicious. The last time was probably fifteen minutes ago, or so. I’m right handed, FWIW.

I also raised my right eyebrow when I read the thread title…I just couldn’t help it. I do it several times a day, and tought myself to do it back in elementary school because I was fascinated by another student who could do it. I’m right handed, I don’t think I tried to teach myself to use the left.

Well, I raised my eyebrow(s) as I read the OP, to figure out what felt most natural.

But excluding that…about an hour ago, when my boyfriend claimed to possess a pure and innocent mind.

Upon introspection, I discovered that I raise either my right eyebrow or both at once. Handedness data for me is useless, as I write with my left hand but do everything else with my right (but am not ambidextrous for any task).

I raised my left eyebrow today. Here’s why: I took a short ride around our local cemetery and noticed that several graves were decorated with Halloween decorations. Not just seasonal flowers/pumpkins/gourds, but ghosts! The sight of cartoonish ghosts on posts sticking out of graves was quite a sight. I can understand grief-stricken people wanting to leave a “little something” to decorate a grave…but, ghosts??? Very creepy…

I raise mine all the time. I consider it a clinical tool that comes quite in handy when, say, someone doesn’t think that a quart of vodka a night and 4 DUI’s constitutes a drinking problem (cue eyebrow). My ex really envied this particular skill  .

I raise the left, only.

I’m righthanded.

I’ve got an eyebrow I raised up from a lash.

Ditto. And I do it frequently.

I can’t actually raise my eyebrow, but I do it all the time . . . in my mind!

It was a bit embarassing finding out that I couldn’t do it. When I was in high school, I practiced for a long in front of a mirror and taught myself how to do it. Then years later in college, I was chatting with a friend who is a master-eyebrow-lofter, and told her

“Well, I raised an eyebrow at that, let me tell you . . .”

She said, “You can actually raise your eyebrow?”

“Sure,” I said. “See?”

“See what?” And naturally, she lifted her eyebrow at that.

“See? Lifting one eyebrow. Ta-da!”

“Um, sorry to tell you this, Pod, but you’re not doing it.”

What?”

“You’re just raising them both halfway.”

I ran off to a mirror, and indeed, when I thought I was raising one eyebrow, both of them were going up.

I haven’t been able to retrain myself to raise just one, but I’m still in the habit of doing what to me feels like I’m raising one eyebrow.

It’s the left one that I think I’m lifting, in case it makes any difference whatsoever, and I’m right handed.

When: A few seconds ago (Presumably a lot more recently than John Kerry has been able to): Reading a thread & review about the BBC2 series ‘The Power of Nightmares’
Why: I felt like doing a mystified vulcan impersonation
Which: Left

R/L: Righty - But being a product of the late 60’s, my Mom broke me of my left handedness the moment I picked up a ball or pencil with the wrong hand. She was worried I would be called a communist.

I can’t raise my eyebrows independently. No one in my family can. I thought one eyebrow raisers were the odd ones, until I met Ardred. Seems most everyone he knows can. He can too.

He likes to do it to make me mad.
