Poll: Your favorite version of "A Christmas Carol"

Just looked it up on IMDb-- that is probably it.

I can go along with that. As a short cartoon, Magoo might be funny, but that version was too much.

First version was Mr Magoo (which I just saw 2 days ago, for the first time in decades. It’s on You Tube.)

Favorite, though is Alistair Sim. Although if I’m being perfectly honest I do fast forward through his past. They spend a bit too much time on his shady business dealings. But the scene at the end when he appears at Nephew Fred’s for dinner, brings me a bad case of verklempt, every time.

I’ve probably seen The Muppets more than any version (it being my kids’ favorite) and it is very dear to my heart.

Is it the 1938 version that features Scrooge chewing out Bob Cratchit for using too much coal in the stove?

I remember the poor guy working late in the office, shivering and miserable.

All the versions find different ways to show Scrooge as a miserable and heartless person.

I’m watching the Alastair Sim version tonight. It ran frequently on TBS when I was in high school.

He doesn’t treat Bob Cratchit too badly in this version. He does complain about giving Cratchit a full day off to celebrate Christmas.

Yes. And putting more coal on to warm up the room was Fred’s idea in the first place, and the jerk doesn’t step up and say so, just lets Crachit get chewed out.

I grew up watching this version of the classic tale. Always been my favorite version, probably because it was also my first.

No love for Blackadder?

Additionally, I, too, have seen Blackadder’s version, and An American Christmas Carol with Henry Winkler (TV movie).

Oh, yes, and Mr. Magoo’s version is one of my top three favorites.

If I had tried to list all the TV shows that did Christmas Carol episodes, I’d still be composing the post.

You can do better than that.
“If I had tried to list all the TV shows that did Christmas Carol episodes”, there would be time for a fourth Ghost to visit.
