dont know which song came first, but i remember a song by the guess who called “clap for the wolfman”.
this song is “narrated” by the late great wolfman jack.
in the song, jack says “thats the wolfmans pompitus of love”
yet i still dont know what it means.
I’m guessing this is about this column.
In that context, sounds like “pompitus of love” could be something dirty.

As explained in the original column, Steve Miller used the word “pompitus” in the song Enter Maurice on his 1972 album Recall the Beginning: A Journey From Eden. He reiterated the phrase in The Joker in 1973. Clap For the Wolfman did not chart until the second half of 1974.
