There’s a popular myth that drinking alcohol will keep you warm. What examples can you think of in movies or tv?
At the start of Miracle on 34th Street, the guy playing Santa in the parade is drunk. He keeps whining that it’s cold and he has to keep warm.
The numerous cartoon shorts featuring a Saint Bernard with a keg around its neck, giving drinks to those frozen in the cold.
It’s not exactly a myth. The alcohol dilates blood vessels near the skin, so more warm blood is warming your skin. Your skin feels warmer because it is warmer. It’s not warming to your body as a whole, since more heat will be lost this way, but actors are acting as if they feel a little warmer because it does make one feel that way IRL.
