Life In A Northern Town by Dream Academy. “A hey-o ma ma ma…”

In A Big Country by Big Country. No, that’s not bagpipes you hear.

“Tainted Love” by Soft Cell.
“White Wedding” by Billy Idol
“Careless Whisper” by Wham

Oh, Billy Idol. I’d go for “Rebel Yell” myself.

“Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles.

I agree with most of the previous about good songs from the '80s, but the greatest pop song of the decade was “Wouldn’t It be Good” by Nick Kershaw.

Uptown Girl by Christie Brinkley’s ex.

God, I love that song!

I’ve never heard that song before, weird. Didn’t really strike a chord with me.

I came into this thread to say almost exactly this. 'Cause I am funky.

Poison by, um, I can’t remember what that guy’s name is.

The great thing about this thread is now my earworm is switching off between “No One is to Blame” and “Kiss.” Much better than my standard dreck.

One of my many theme songs.

Even though I think in the 80’s my main one was “King of Pain” by the Police.

(Read my story in the unrequited love thread and you’ll know why)

Bell Biv Devoe.

Yep, that’s the kind of stuff I use up brain cells for.

**Change **(the group Luther Vandross sang with before his solo career) is the first group that came to mind when I read the title. The Glow of Love is one of my favorite songs, Hold Tight, Searching, Paradise, Lover’s Holiday are also great.

The 80s soul to me was that waaaay over-produced sound of Kashif that I happen to love.

Themes for the 80s for me are Africa and Roseanna by ToTo, Joe Jackson’s Night and Day Album - Stepping Out is so the 80s!

You mean there were two Poisons in the 80s!?!! You see, I was talking about the one that came out in '89 and sung by the gorgeous long black-haired shock rocker guy. The one I’m absolutely obsessed with.

His name, I think but I’m not positive, is Alice. :stuck_out_tongue:

But those other fellow’s song was pretty catchy too.

Yep, and in that vein “And We Danced”.

And “(I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles” and “C’mon Eileen”.

But that’s just one subarea of this great decade!
