I haven’t heard of these before, but it certainly sounds like a good idea
Yes, and I am assuming they will mainly be in the WC postcode areas.
Kind of unfair on us women though.
The first one is in Villiers Street, near Embankment station. I haven’t seen it personally yet, but it’s been highlighted on the local news programmes. It’s not a hoax, and is much needed. Apparently it cost £17,000.
Yes they’re real. There are also portable pissoirs in Sohio at the weekend.
Its the problem with our stupid licencing laws, all the bars empty at once…
I just like this quote:
I’d just hate to think about being inside one when the hydraulic lift system failed…
You can’t get inside this type, TVGuy, it’s just an arrangement of three curved walls, each with a wall-mounted bowl open to the air. If the hydraulics failed and the thing disappeared into the ground you’d be able to back away from it in time (unless you were really drunk ;).
Nah. Wear a skirt and no panties (er, I suppose I mean knickers, in this case), pull your skirt up, and tilt your pelvis to aim forward.
Practice it when you’re sober though.

The diagram looked like a cylinder, with the bowls inside and facing away from each other.
It looks a little ambiguous in plan view, but I can assure you I’m right. It’s a little clearer if you look at the 3D representation and bear in mind the description I gave. There are no doors.
We do have completely-enclosed public toilet booths as well, by the way. They have a regular sit-down toilet bowl inside and you pay 20 pence to gain access through a sliding door. They don’t rise up out of the pavement though.
