For about four days now I’ve been afflicted by pop-up web pages from some address called grab.com. The message doesn’t matter, but it’s coming up whenever I access a random web page.
How’s it happening?
How do you stop it?
BTW, I’m firewalled.

Most likely the thing to do to get rid of them is to restart your machine and then clear your browser history. If you’re in Netscape, go to Communicator > Tools > History, and then select all and delete. In I.E., go to Tools > Internet Options > Clear History. Voila! No more windows.
Hope this works.
hmmm… this looks interesting… I can’t see what would be causing it or why just clearing the history would resolve it. I’d be interested in knowing more about this.
the only thing I can think is if the home page has changed. That loads automatically when you start the browser but the rest in the history should not matter.
I found the source of the pop-up. A web page that I maintain uses http://www.pollnow.com as a poll server. They’re
using Flycast ads that are opening the browser window and delivering an ad. The offending script from the source file is below:
SRC=“http://ad-adex3.flycast.com/server/iframe/PollNow/PollNowResultScreenofeachPoll/123456”
scrolling=“no” marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 frameborder=0 vspace=0 hspace=0>
<A target="_top"
HREF=“http://ad-adex3.flycast.com/server/click/PollNow/PollNowResultScreenofeachPoll/123456”>

Kill it!

No, I’m not affiliated with Analog X in any way.
