Popcap Bookworm fans: scores and strategy?

Okay, home now and can make a better reply!

I’ve been discussing the title Bookworm gave when I scored the 1 million pts. (while still in Beta, mind you; I think they’ve tightened things up since then); it was verbalist or something like that. Argh, wish I could remember it! LOL I should have done what Helena did! I -love- Bookworm, but have found that after a while my eyes start to hurt and sometimes I’ve let the tiles burn up the library. :frowning:

My newest addiction is the new Beta game, Word Shark! It took me a while to get going on this game (I got to the Bermuda Triangle, level 20-something on the mid-level version); now I play in Expert mode; I’ve gotten up to level 9 in Expert. LOL The toxic sharks where the numbers & letters change always get me in expert!

Helena, great going on removal! and fantastic score–I think that’s above grand archivist. Congratulations!

Does anyone know why it doesn’t accept names of places?
And it accepts some people names but not others.

Damn you, haardvark.
New timesucker, indeed.

Well, at least this might cure my Alchemy addiction.

I think I have you all beat…

I’ve played two games. The first game, I was figuring out the rules. The second game, I played for two days, had 600,000+ points and a totally clear board, and just got bored and stopped.

I just finished a game. My high score was 1,017,940 with the title of Lexographer. I got lazy and much too cocky towards the end. :frowning:

Yeah, I’m addicted to this one too… question, though-- does it ever actually END? For instance, Kayeby, when you said you finished a game, do you mean finished as in it ended or finished as in hurled the mouse at the monitor and stormed off swearing? Um… not that I’ve ever done that… heh… um…

Well … it finished in a bitter howl of disappointment with lots of red blocks on the screen.

“Nooooo! I was so sure they’d accept duh. Nooooooo!”

So I didn’t so much finish the game as much as it finished me.

The game once gave me a message indicating that its vocabulary doesn’t know any nine-letter words, but expects to include them in future versions.

My strategy is to not use the gold tiles. I don’t know why most of yours are burning, but for me, once they’re at the bottom, they catch all the red ones, and your game can go forever. I went over 1M last night just to see what title I would get, which was Lexographer. My best word was “icky”, which scored me over 8700 points.

Helena, the reason “dependant” didn’t work, is because you’re thinking of “dependEnt”.

I, too, am addicted to this game. I often download it in the morning and keep it on the desktop to play throughout the day.

Today has been my best so far:
Total score of: 707880
Title of: Lexographer 1st Class
Longest word: Elastic
Highest scoring word: Guaged (8640 pts)

Scrabble with a twist

Helena, sarky means sarcastic - British slang, and braw means fine or splended - of Scottish origin.

Last weekend I played for about four hours and quit once I hit a million. My title was ‘Dictionarist’ or something. (I’m sure I’ll think of it once I hit submit.) I could have kept going, but my husband was nagging me to go grocery shopping.
My best word was ‘scooter’ which had two gold and two green tiles, and scored me something like 17,500 points.
I love that game, but I just don’t have the spare time to play it.
