Sometime-Doper audient found a new word game: Deepleap.
The idea is that you take the letters that pop up and make words out of them before they disappear. You make points based on the length (and, apparently, “quality,” in the Scrabble sense – “ode” and “alee” got 14 points each, “away” got 63 and “sizes” got 75) of the words, and lose points if a letter disappears before you use it or if you try to play a bogus word.
This is pretty cool, but I’m a bit perplexed about how the scoring works. What determines the multiplier for each word, and what are the letter values? Here’s my score sheet from playing one game:
the multiplier goes up by .1 each time you get a valid word. If you submit an invalid word or lose a letter due to time, the multiplier goes back down to 1.0.
so this means that if you play cleanly, you can score more points later in the game.
there’s another multiplier for word length.
4 letters=1.5x, 5 letters=2x, 6 letters=2.5x, etc.
lastly, a word’s score is multiplied by 1.25 if you use all letters. “clean slate”
so those 3 factors are multiplied by, i think the scrabble score for the word.

It also appears the point values do not match Scrabble exactly. In Scrabble, R is a one-point letter and H is four points. In this game they are two and five, apparently.
