popup ad false advertising

So I get this popup ad that reads:

You are the
1,000,000th
Visitor to this website
and have been selected to receive
$1,802.00 in travel dollars towards a
Disney Vacation!
Call
1-800-811-xxxx
to claim your
prize!

obviously others get the ad too, so wouldn’t the 1m visitor be false advertising?
could they be sued for this?

(I think you’ll get a better answer over in GQ, rewindforward.)

I edited out the last four digits of the number. It’s just better that way.

Well, maybe they mean you are the one millionth visitor since one million visitors ago. That would qualify everyone as the one millionth visitor. Or something.

I would think false advertising would only come into play if they fail to deliver on whatever they promise for being the 1 000 000th customer.

I’m not sure what “travel dollars” are. Maybe they really do give you $1800 “travel dollars” in the form of a big bunch on vouchers offering up to $100 off when you spend $10,000 etc etc.

“Popup ad” and “false advertising”??

I’m shocked, shocked I say!
