Has anybody seen that one popup (I get it from yahoo.com about 25% of the time) for “loweryourbills.com” where if you click on a state it’ll give you lowered car insurance rates for that state? And you can use your cursor to drive around a little blue car across a map of the U.S.?
I love that ad. I can sit here and play with it for minutes on end.
(I understand that it may sound like I’m being facetious, but I’m not. I really do love playing with this popup.)
This is probably rare. Has anyone else seen this ad and liked it? Are there any other popups out there that people like (besides the sickos ogling the chicks in the X14 mini camera ads)?
I have never seen a popup ad that I even remotely enjoyed, let alone loved. They are the single worst thing about the Internet as it is currently being abused. I hate them. I will never click on on, and I feel it is the ultimate injustice that there’s no setting in my browser which lets me tell sites that so that they don’t show me their annoying little bandwidth-hogging java applets. Blech. Yech. Ptui. I spit on them.
Oh yeah, I love popups. They’re like, totally the best things evahr. You know what else I like? Telemarketers. They are just the kewlies. And also, having my eyeballs scrubbed with a brush made from a hog’s bristles and dipped in lye. That rocks!
I didn’t expect this would be the most popular of viewpoints, but seriously, nobody feels me on this? Personally, I’ve taken the standpoint that popups are here and that we might as well accept them. If you think about it they’re pretty much exactly the same concept as TV commercials except you can close 'em at will. There are plenty of threads on commercials you like, but no one’s willing to admit to having seen a clever or momentarily amusing pop-up ad?
Come on! It’s a little blue convertible that goes vroom-vroom all over the map! It’s neato!
