The player might not see all the money from the contract, but the team still takes it as a cap hit. It’s been the downfall of many of the superbowl winning teams, with the exception of the Pats, who seem to do it without a ton of blue chip superstars. Bad long term contracts is what caused the Cowboys downfall in the late 90’s early 00’s. Cap room being taken up by players not even in the league anymore.
OK, I can agree with that. If I were a GM, I’d still rather have him than a 1000+ RB.
