Position of shocks on vehicles.

Here in Canada, Ford is advertising a feature on their new F-150 truck model. They have moved the shocks to the outside of the frame. Their claim is that a “wider stance offers more stability”. But really, the truck isn’t any wider. The shocks are just closer to the wheels. Would this change actually make any difference to the feel of the vehicle?

The difference woudl be subtle at best. With all other factors being the same - and they never are - moving the shocks outboard means that for a given angle of body roll relative the axle the displacement of the shock will be greater. It would potentially be different but to say “better” sounds like marketing hype to me.
