Possible cheating for fantasy football

Hi all,

I’ve had no luck finding this information myself, but I thought maybe you guys could help me out.

This morning, 5 minutes before the start of the 1 pm EST games, my fantasy opponent made two very curious drop/adds just before all drop/adds ended at the 1pm deadline. At 12:52, he added Kenny Britt, who ended up scoring 20+ fantasy points in our league. At 12:54, he added Jacksonville defense, which, so far, is the highest scoring defense this week.

I checked the box scores of the two games, and Kenny Britt had a 59 yard pass completion in the 2nd quarter. Jacksonville returned a punt for a TD also in the second quarter.

My question is: did these two games start earlier than 1pm EST? Was my opponent able to watch the game before making these two adds?

No. Your opponent just got lucky.

I believe I put Britt in my lineup 5 minutes before game time too. Of course I started Pierre Thomas and Derek Mason and left off Edwards and Santana Moss, so I didn’t use my secret knowledge terribly well.

Really though it isn’t unusual to set lineups 5 minutes before game time. That is the only point where you definitely know who will be active for games. No games start earlier than scheduled and all web sites will lock rosters once a game starts.

Jacksonville DEF was sort of a spotty add, but Kenny Britt’s a stud in the making - he was ranked in the top 15 on my lists yesterday. There’s nothing odd about that one. And considering the rash of INTs that Manning’s been putting up combined with the number of injuries the Colts have had, Jacksonville wasn’t a terrible idea either.
