Possible Iran involvement in Iraq: Now what?

Former military chiefs urge talks with Iran:

So what? W won’t listen to his current military chiefs, except when they say exactly what he wants to hear.

Looks like they’re supporting the Sunni “moderates” in the hope that the Wahhabists don’t take control of Sunni Iraq. You know what the consequences of *that * would be for the House of Saud.

Maybe someday Chalabi’s full role in inducing the gullible Bush into doing what Iran wanted will be known. But it doesn’t matter anymore in practical terms.

That might be how military officers think. But somehow, I don’t think getting the terrorists is really the primary basis for the neocons’ interest in the MENA.

Y’know, I would like to think Bush is playing bad cop. (“Better do what he says, Iran. He’s crazy! We can’t control him!”)

But then again, I thought that’s what he was doing before he invaded Iraq.

don’t get fooled twice
