I have two .VBS (visual basic script?) files that keep popping up on my StartUp folder from time to time. I do not know much about viruses, but since these are not executables can they be dangerous? I have Visual Studio installed, so the files are associated, and yet nothing happens when I click on them (or when I boot my computer), whereas if I click on a C file, the Visual C++ program loads. Does anyone have a clue as to what they might be?
There names are, “mscgf.vbs” and “network.vbs”.
I think i know what your talkin bout partner…I had the same thing happen to me(I think) i went to a search engine and got a site with the files it said were screwed or that i needed and it went away…
I’m reasonably sure the the ‘network.vbs’ is a virus or actually a worm. Here’s a link to some info or check Symantec Antivirus Resouce Center (SARC)
I didn’t find anything on a quick check about ‘mscgf.vbs’. I don’t know off hand what that is.
