And no one would ever surrender. Every time a police officer goes to make an arrest, it’s going to be a shootout to the death.
Better organized neighborhoods who have a lot of their residents arrested and executed might even organize ambushes, such that if they see the police arresting someone they’ll open fire from multiple angles with rifles.
And if the police up the ante and start using APCs, the victimized residents would up the ante and start using IEDs.
“But why not surrender, you might be found innocent at trial”. In many places, the “trial” has a conviction rate from 70 to 90 percent, and 90 percent of all criminal cases end in a plea bargain. So if it really was “death, always”, and the police are coming to arrest you, there is roughly a 95% chance you are going to be killed.
I’m not sure that the Nazis killed that large a percentage of their concentration camp inmates…
