Post five statements you truly believe but expect most of the board to disagree with.

If you can’t make it to five, that’s all right; that number is a target, not a requirement. But please don’t go crazy overboard. Also, the focus here should be on adding your own items, not criticizing those listed by others.

To begin:

  1. Judy Greer is much better looking than Scarlett Johansson.
  2. Star Trek: Enterprise had by far the best theme music of the six Trek series.
  3. While it’s probably true that the United States would benefit greatly from reduced gun ownership, the Second Amendment is clearly mean tot protect individual rights in that area, and it’s perverse to claim otherwise.
  4. Bacon is unnecessary in a world with sausage patties.
  5. The world would be much better off without Wikipedia.

That’s just me. Anybody else?

Old cars from the 60’s-80’s are better than new ones. You can fix 'em yourself and they have character.

Never trust adult males that don’t drink beer.

Cats suck.

  1. Jeremy Brett was a terrible Sherlock Holmes

I think I’ll just stick with 1)

  1. Tattoos aren’t really that offensive
  2. Pet ownership is more trouble than it’s worth
  3. All things being equal, smaller breasts on women are more attractive.

Some animal lives are worth more than some human lives.

The average US citizen today does not accept responsibility nearly as well as the average citizen in 1958. :frowning:

Most people have no real idea of their own mortality. :smack:

If you have not seen something that can not be explained, you have been cheated from one of the best experiences of living.

Ivana Miličević is the most beautiful woman in the world.

Private ownership of football teams should be banned and adult football teams should be clubs composed of dues-paying members of the community, democratically electing officers to handle operations. There should be no limit to the number of teams playing in the NATIONAL Football League.

I’ll have to get back to everyone with Numbers 2-5. Had to get that one off my chest first.

Okay. Admittedly the only thing I know about football is how to spell it, but why does private ownership of football teams vex you?

Charlie Watts is the third greatest drummer in rock’n’roll history.

(The first and second best are Keith Moon and Neil Peart, though I’m sure many would agree with that part.)

Why?

‘da Vinci’ was Leonardo’s surname.

You’re just trying to start something.

Start? It’s finished(but I suspect that thread was only read by a minority)

It’s too late. I have already released the ants.

  1. God may be unknowable, beyond human understanding and apparently self-contradictory, but still exists.

  2. Lord of the Rings kind of sucks. It’s bloated and boring.

  3. Abortion should be legal - that, I expect the board to largely agree with. However, it is still morally repugnant. That, I expect to be pilloried for.

  4. Fahrenheit 451 is a simple-minded piece of bullshit with a moral delivered with a sledge hammer. In fact, sci-fi in general suffers from the tendency of authors to instill IMPORTANT MESSAGES into it.

  5. ***Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter ***was great at achieving what it set out to: showing muthah-fuckin’ Abe Lincoln kicking ass and taking down slavery-supporting vampires.

In the American sports leagues, the primary purpose of the franchise is to make money for its owner (claims to the contrary notwithstanding). The leagues limit the number of franchises available to drive demand and give owners tremendous leverage in their negotiations with their host city/region. Pitch in on the facilities or we’ll take our club somewhere else.

This may warm the souls of capitalists everywhere but not mine. The team should be for the fans and by the fans. I don’t care if the product is better under the current system, either. People before products.

  1. Spanking (anyone at all, but for now specifically children) is an unacceptable form of violence that should hold penalties.

  2. Black pudding over bacon.

  3. Watching sports is stupid.

  4. Manning and Snowdon did nothing wrong.

  5. Most people are pretty ok.

You seem to be including recreational spanking between consenting adults in this. Is that your intent?

  1. Breaking Bad, The Shield and The Wire weren’t that good. Neither is Game of Thrones.
  2. Rush is terminally over-rated as a band.
  3. Football is stupid. All types, all levels.
  4. We really need to cull humanity.
  5. I’ll get back to you on this one.

I agree with #1 and 4, but #5 is just plain crazy!

No, let’s add in non-consensual.

  1. Very few things matter.

  2. Things that do matter don’t matter very much.
