The Seattle Seahwaks returned four interceptions for touchdowns in a game against the Chiefs in 1984. The last of which was thrown by Sandy Osiecki.

The reason that stuck in my head is I happened to see a short film about the game on youtube, including interviews with some of the players involved. Even they couldn’t remember who threw the last pick.

As a fan of the team that threw the picks, I remembered the game. But I sure as hell don’t remember the guy who threw the last interception.

To nitpick, none of those teams have ever won the First Division/Premier League, but they’ve all won multiple championships in lower leagues.

I know, but that’s not particularly remarkable nor makes an interesting trivia question. IMHO anyway.

Of the 4 teams in the AFC East, the New York Jets rank 5th in number of division titles won. Who is in 4th place?

Ooh, good question. I assume it’s a team that that was in the AFC East prior to the realignment from three divisions to four, but I can’t remember what the old teams were. Without looking it up, I’ll guess the Indianapolis Colts, from their days in Baltimore.

The first one to do it was Bert ‘Campy’ Campaneris, on 9/8/1965. It was a publicity stunt by Kansas City A’s owner Charlie Finley. In order, Campaneris played shortstop, second base, third base, left field, center field, right field, first base, pitcher, and catcher. His night ended when he injured his shoulder tagging out a runner at the plate to end the top of the ninth. BTW, the A’s lost the game to the Angels, 5-3.

I know the Oilers were originally placed on the AFC East though I don’t know how long they were there before the division realignment.

And in their first season the Tampa Bay Bucs were in the AFC West.

(But in terms of the trivia question it’s the Colts, with 6 titles )

Who is the only player in the Football Hall of Fame to never play in the NFL?

Billy Shaw, who recently passed away. His entire career took place in the American Football League (AFL), which merged with the NFL, but he retired before the merger.

I’m workshopping this trivia question. Warning: it is a trick question.

The question is straightforward. Who has been inducted into the Hall of Fame with the lowest WAR? The straightforward answer is Bruce Sutter with 24.1 career WAR.

The trick question answer: I can’t think of anyone in the Hall with a lower career war than Bob Uecker at -1.0. Of course Uecker was inducted (deservedly) as an announcer, thus the trick question.

He’s not officially an inductee. Frick winners are not considered HoF members, at least according to Wiki. So, the question could still work, but only with some careful wording.

I found a lower WAR for an inductee: Sparky Anderson with a -1.2 WAR, inducted as a manager

Tommy La Sorda edges out Sparky with a -1.3 WAR.

Dang, I plugged Lasorda in, but b-ref only pulled up his manager page. Good find.

This one isn’t a trivia question, per se, because I don’t know the answer, but I can’t think of how to word it correctly for a google search:

Who has hit the highest number of home runs in a season that were solo home runs?

That is, the lowest RBI total with the highest home runs?

This was inspired by this phone app game I’m playing where my lead-off hitter has something like 28 home runs, but only 40-something RBIs (because generally no one is on base when they’re batting).

So what’s the highest home run total with the lowest RBI total, in which the majority of those runs are scored from solo homers?

A quick Google search reveals that Kyle Schwarber had 46 home runs with 94 RBI in 2022. I’m not sure if that is what you are looking for, though.

ETA: I count 31 solo shots, based on stats found here

If you’re looking just for most solo home runs in a season…

Probably Barry Bonds who hit 46 during 2001 when he hit 73 total homers. That’s according to this chart and if I counted right.

I count 46 as well. That is the record. Bonds’s 2001 is also, by a very wide margin, the most home runs a person has ever hit in a season in which their RBI total is less than twice their home run total.

The next guy on the list is the now forgotten Chris Duncan, who in 2006 with the Cards belted 22 bombs but only drove in 43 runs. He was a pretty good hitter for a couple of years but I think he got hurt or something in 2008.

They probably walked him most of the time he was up with men on base.
