So I’m a Reddit addict. There are some times when I will spend all day long there. Like today. And yesterday.
But anyway, I was curious…what are your subs there? Instead of just mentioning one or two that you think are good, I challenge you to just go to your “EDIT” or “Profile” page and copy the entire list of subreddits you keep track of and post it here for all to see. And don’t edit out those more embarrassing ones either.
Also, the full lists, I feel, would be interesting to see how many subs dopers have in common. For example, who ISN’T subscribed to MildlyInteresting? If you aren’t, I’m betting you’re in the minority. But not only that, it would give everyone else who is a Reddit whore the chance to see and learn about and look up NEW subreddits that they might enjoy and subscribe to.

I apparently fail at Reddit (redditing?). I take it that the entertaining part is the comments but there are ususally thousands and who has time for that?
I won’t actually post this person’s name because I know him personally, but. . .
I know someone who as a very old Jewish first name and very old Jewish last name.
This person is an (Asian) Indian. . . and has without a doubt the darkest complexion I’ve ever seen in my life. I honestly think I could see him in the dark at night.
We have many subreddits in common. I also subscribe to:

Nothing embarrassing, honestly. I don’t have enough interest in internet gore or nudity anymore to follow Reddit’s offerings.

I very much enjoy reading PersonalFinance. But I’m not subscribed, and just checking out that one subreddit takes up all of my spare time that’s not allocated to the Dope.
I tried dipping my toe in Reddit a while back. I felt lost and bewildered the entire visit (and skeptical that anyone could navigate it with any confidence).
In other words, I don’t get it.
But yet I have a nagging feeling that I’m missing out on something.

I’ve popped in a few times and felt about the same. The multi-branching style of conversation isn’t for me. Seems like it spawns a zillion rapid-fire tangents instead of much coherent conversation. Buy I admit I haven’t spent much time there, and I’m a grumpy old guy who doesn’t “get” a lot of new things.
I visit daily. The most interesting sub-Reddit forbids you linking to it. Think of Handicapped Imbibers.
It’s my real subreddit list. Some of those are not really active though. I don’t visit them all; I usually just read whatever’s on my front page.
As far as being overwhelmed by comments, you can set it so only the parent comments are showing, then open any thread you want to read. Also it’s a lot better when you have an account (which is easy, you just put the name you want and a password, no email required) because you can prune out all the default crap and add what you want; and you can get the Reddit Enhancement Suite extension which makes everything better.
Own it, dammit! I have some rather weird ones that I’m a little nervous about some seeing and questioning… but I’m still gonna post it anyway, judgement be damned.
