Something else that drives me nuts is when a question is posed that’s asking for opinions (but sometimes it can involve some amount of fact) and one of the posters will give their answer followed by “Why is this even a question?” I know sometimes it’s a joke, but sometimes IMO, it’s done to say “THIS is the correct answer” and that always bugged me as it always seemed to me to boarder on threadshitting.
Yeah but that is posting CONTENT you hate, not just a style. Speaking of, using some words in CAPS to simulate shouting is annoying as HELL, almost as bad as incorrect italics for emphasis.

Moose! Moose! Say your god-damned pronouns!
I am coming to hate hate hate the fact that we are Googleable. We are now “blessed” by morons who resurrect zombies from years if not over a decade ago to add absolutely fucking nothing to the conversation. Most toss in some tidbit that was already brought up on page 2 during the original thread life. At best. The rest bring up some mis-information that was disproved by post #22 7 years ago.
Yeah, i’m with you silenus.
I wonder if there’s some sort of hack or VB setting that would prevent new members (or any members, for that matter) from replying to any thread that has been dormant for more than 12 months.
Or, at the very least, flagging zombie threads so that i realize, before i open them, that the conversation is years old.
Holy cow, I’ve just noticed something else that I can hate: Square brackets used instead of parentheses in thread titles.
Examples from the board right now:
Do You Hate Your [real] Name?
Photography: It’s not [only] the equipment
Square brackets are commonly used to show that something has been added to a text by someone other than the original author, usually when quoting. When found in thread titles, they normally indicate that the title has been edited by a mod, usually adding some note of clarification.
Now, I could be wrong (and the sky could be pink), but I’m pretty sure that this hasn’t happened in either of those cases, nor have the respective original posters tried to make it appear as if it has. Instead, going by context, said posters have just used those square brackets instead of parentheses, because, fuck, I dunno, I guess parentheses just aren’t cool anymore. Maybe parentheses didn’t wear the right kind of shoes to the playground. Maybe that banana shape just isn’t hip enough these days.
This is stupid, as well as confusing, and it has to stop. Thank you for your attention.
Those weren’t editorial interpolations?
What about people who randomly capitalize “I?”
No. I laughed out loud too, but never saw it. It just sounded funny as hell.
I know I probably do some of these bad things but honestly if we all stopped doing every one we’d be a bunch of professors sitting here lecturing each other dryly. So I will keep doing them! Fight the power!
I approve. I wish you’d said more so that I could quote that as well.
Actually I’d say it’s pretty conformist to post in a thread about criticising posting styles in the styles that are complained about.
Everyone is perfectly aware that you’re thoroughly outraged with a post that utilizes too much ‘formatting’, adding extra exclamation points doesn’t add to your diatribe on the subject though.
Was this a little better for you? Ya’ Ann Arbor Ass wart!
You [really] should[n’t] tell me what will {annoy} you|.|
