Short story, USPS wants to cut one day of mail delivery to save money.
So which day?
All of my mail is bills or junk mail, so it really won’t matter to me if it happens one day later.
So just to pick a day, I’ll go with Wednesday. Just because.

Tuesday or Wednesday for me. As long as they don’t go two days off in a row. No biggie.
Wednesday seems sort of jerkish to the carriers. I’m sure they’d rather either Saturday or Monday, so they can have longer weekends.
So I’ll vote for Thursday.
Wednesday.
I would vote for Wednesday, also.
Why Wednesday, everyone?
I’d pick Saturday. Most of the mail I am actually interested in receiving is mail for my business, and I never ever do bookkeeping on the weekend. So I’d much rather have my mail come only on weekdays.
I vote for Friday. Saturday mail gives me something to look forward to… although it’s almost always junk.
PLEASE not two days at a time. I’m a periodicals librarian in a big library - we have more than 1,400 subscriptions and when there’s no mail for more than one day, like on a holiday, my life really sucks.
For myself, it’s pretty much as close as you can come to splitting the current six day delivery into two equal parts. Three days on one side and two on the other.
I personally wouldn’t care if it went to one day a week. But I can see where the Netflix crowd would be apoplectic if that were to be suggested.
Meh, I’ve lived in a few places with no Saturday mail and it didn’t affect life much. Except for my habit of checking the mail and getting there and realizing why there is none.
What, you guys get mail on Saturday? Luxury!
Not really. I never remember to pick it up on Saturday. Though I did grow up in an area with Monday through Friday delivery only, so that might have something to do with it.
Isn’t it a bit awkward for businesses to stop mail delivery on a week day? No one would miss Saturday, surely?
I still remember the rumpus (not very long ago) caused when the Royal Mail stopped delivering TWICE a day.
If it happens it will be Saturday. There’s no way business will put up with having their mail reduced by 1/5. Many businesses don’t count Saturday as even being a mail day, because they’re not at work to get the mail, and it’s already held over. Not being able to get or send mail on a regular business day will drive them nuts. They’re also the types who make the big political contributions and have influence in government, so they’ll get their way.
Is it true that in some large cities that big corporations receive two mail deliveries a day? Years ago, I heard big companies in New York City get two deliveries a day during the week. Was this true? Is it still true?
Saturday delivery can go.
I’ll also vote for Saturday. I get checks in the mail fairly regularly, and Saturday is the day I’m least likely to be able to get to the bank before it closes at noon. (Mail delivery is usually late morning.)
No mail on a weekday would be just weird. (It’s weird enough on postal holidays . . .)
Saturday. I usually need medical supplies ASAP so I can’t really afford to have a weekday off.
Wednesday, not only for netflix but for gamefly too. I wouldn’t want to go the whole weekend without a game…its a whole four dollars more for the two game subscription.
I don’t work in a particularly big city or for a large corporation but yes they come twice, ~9AM & ~4PM but we pay extra for it.
I’d vote for Saturday. If they cut out a weekday (business day) how many places would get screwed up when they say “will be shipped within two business days”.
I live in an apartment building and we get two deliveries. Once at about noon, and once later in the day if anyone in the building gets packages. I don’t know why they have a seperate delivery person for packages. Probably something to do with getting the actual “mail” there on time.
My USPS letter carrier husband is voting Saturday, so he can have a weekend off “like normal people”. Due to their current system, we only have a weekend off together every 6 weeks, assuming that he doesn’t have to work that day off due to workload. It’s been tough for us to plan trips out of town, or to get together with friends if they’d like to see us on a Saturday, so a ‘natural’ weekend would be something he’d love.
It sounds like Tuesday is the early lead in the official word on matters, though, due to that being the lightest mail load day typically. So not happy about that.
