Where were you in the 80’s man?
I was in high school until '90. I didn’t start smoking pot until college.
I’m making up for it now.
I disagree.
Lance Turbo I know several growers of high quality, specialty (one-hit wonders) marijuana. I have toured their
grow rooms and observed them tending their plants. They also have plants outdoors as well, and don’t use pestacides on those plants either. Though the plants aren’t under their observation 24/7 like the indoor plants, someone contaminating their plants is the least of their worries (read: if someone finds the plants, they usually harvest them before my friends get to them). My friends do not hurt anyone by using pesticides or weird chemicals on their plants. And where they live, the penalty for growing/distributing is much less than in other states. Growing was also their sole source of income. It even put one man’s wife through college.
Many people that smoke high quality weed, do know their grower, or their distributer knows the grower. Growers take pride in their work. The growers I know are constantly striving for a better product.
I don’t disagree that there aren’t pesticides in weed, but I don’t believe that I would be smoking the cheap weed would be contaiminated. Cheap Mexican Dirt Weed that has been pesticide laced has given a few people I know some nasty lung problems, but we were younger and had less money then too.
If you are going to smoke weed, smoke the best you can find. It may be more expensive, but you don’t need near enough to get high, and it’s grown with love and pride.
Uhh, not quite, Lance. Paraquat was used by authorities for marijuana eradication. That was the feds trying to kill us, not us killing ourselves. (Well, not me. I was just a kid back then.)
Ahhhhh the joys of home growing…
For those of you inclined visit http://photos.yahoo.com/budsmoker_au to see the possibilities!
Disclaimer: Of course, these plants were grown with full government permission under my “Hemp As A Natural Air Freshener?” grant.
I love how the owner of the plants removed his face from the picture of his but left in the face of the girl with that pound of pot.
ahem.
no, she is holding approximately 2.2 lb of pot.
I’m confused… in the
[quoted article]
(http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_225.html) Cecil says “marijuana smoke contains about 50 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than cigarette smoke,” and then a few sentences later, “marijuana as a carcinogen pales in comparison to tobacco.” This must be a level of magnitude thing.
I was gonna say something else but I forgot what it was.
I’m hungry…
Momo, the point was that people who smoke cigarettes smoke significantly more than people who smoke pot on average. You don’t hear of people who smoke 30 joints a day but smoking 3 cigarettes a day is commonplace for a smoker.
So, smoking individual cigarettes that contain 50% less carcinogenic substances than a joint but smoking 30 compared to one to three is significantly worse.
HUGS!
