Thanks for posting this. Our dog was bitten this morning by what looks like a baby water moccasin. The only thing that happened is that his muzzle and throat swelled but that has gone down. His breathing is fine, he is eating and drinking and running around as usual. Do we have any reason to be worried? Is it possible it could get worse as time goes on? thanks again.
Did you see him bitten? Mrs. Plant (v.1.0) and I took her dog to the vet with a very swollen muzzle, and the vet treated her for wasp stings. I do not know how he could tell the difference from snake bite.
My husband saw him being bitten. He was barking at the snake when it happened. He (my husband) later found and killed it.
I am glad that it ended well.
musiclady1949, welcome to the Straight Dope!
I’m really glad your dog is well now, and that he dodged the bullet on that snakebite.
You may not have noticed that the thread you are in is four years old, so the OP or other responders may be slow, or no shows.
Again, glad to have you, we hope you stick around and explore our forums. But don’t let anyone tell you that the initiation ceremony MUST include a goat!!!
The squid, however is required.
LOL I’ll keep that in mind!
