Potty Training Veterans.

Our three year old son has been potty trained for about three months now. We did’t push it at all and I think that helped. We often asked if he wanted to use the toilet, but when he said “no” we let it go. A lot of people had told us that he’d go when he was ready.

Although I was nervous about waiting for him to decide (I had visions of a seven year old wearing Depends), it seems like it was the best thing. Suddenly one day, it was like someone flipped a switch. He hasn’t worn diapers (except for night time) since. From the beginning he did both on the toilet. He’s had a total of less than five accident. He really loves his spiderman underwear.

We never used pull-ups. First of all, they’re very expensive. Second, if your child is like ours, you won’t need them. He didn’t have accidents. If your child is one who has accidents, I really don’t see much difference between a diaper and the pull-up (other than just teaching the mechanics of pulling underwear up and down).

Oh well, that’s my two cents. Good luck.

Well, Hannah went off to the babysitter’s today in her new underwear, with potty seat and plenty of extra clothes in tow. We’ll see how it goes. Our baby sitter has helped raise about 40 kids, so she’s probably seen it all.

I think that it is a shame if you don’t potty train veterans with the same dignity and courage with which they served this fine country.

Yer pal,
Satan

Well, Satan, I’ve got the undies with flowers on them or the undies with cartoon dinosaurs on them. All veterans weighing less than 38 pounds can have their choice.
