A very good book.
Who are the travelers in the Old Phoenix Taproom? Are they characters from other Anderson stories, or characters of other authors?
The only ones I recognized were the “Pipe smoker with his somewhat lame companion”, Holmes and Watson.
Sadly, I haven’t read any of his stuff lately, but having met some of the authors of that age, I’d wager that some of the characters were actually other authors, or friends of his from the SCA.
The woman who Explains the Plot is from Operation Chaos, I believe (another Poul Andersen novel (series of short stories, really)). Don’t remember who the other guy is.
I’d have to dig out my copy to tell. I knew most of them at one time.
But yes, one of them is Ginny Matuchek.
It’s been years, but I am pretty sure I knew them when I read it. Let me see if I can find my copy.
