PragueDope! Oct. 22-24 Final preps and info.

Hi-

Coldfire, can you please send me the list of emails and I will send out my mobile number and a pic of myself so people know who to buy beer for…

Yeah, glad my uncle cracked you up…he just pissed us off.

Good news everyone! My final exam for Microeconomics will be on Friday, not Monday…so I will be all done and have no responsibilities for the weekend!

:: wobbles ::
Thanks. That’s better.
:: Looks around, realises he is still in Mississauga at work*, and winter is coming ::
Aaack!!!

[sub]*At work early, honest![/sub]

TC, I’ll just start the e-mail chain tonight by collecting all the addies and attaching my personal info, such as cell phone number, photographs, what have you. We’ll take it from there.

Good to hear you’ll be in full beer mode all weekend!

Oh, and is the R7 coming into Prague from the north-west the same as Evropska?

Trying to get my bearings.

Y’all have mail.

Is there any more detailed plan than just “Prague, this weekend”? It looks like I’ll probably be able to make it, so I’ll get my train ticket and a hotel reservation today, but where are you all meeting and what are you doing?

Be at the Josephina Pension in Praha 6 at 6pm on Friday and all will be revealed. Maps and directions all available in this thread.

That’s all the plan we have at the moment, but beer is involved, in a foreign country, (well, it’s foreign to me, at any rate) so what more do you need to know? It’s all good.
See you there.

I can’t get there by Friday evening. I’m planning to take the night train and get to Prague about 8:00 Saturday morning.

Robot, I can get you a room at the same pension for 45 euros for Saturday night (Sunday too if you want).

I will try and email you…you will also get an email with mobile number’s etc. Saturday will be touristing about the castle area, I think. With lunch at a neat Buddhist Chinese restaurant (unless pork and dumplings get the higher vote).

I have to be at work on Monday morning, so I’ll need to get a train back on Sunday afternoon/evening. Since it’s only one night, I was kinda planning to splurge a bit on a nice hotel.

But the more I think about it, the pension does sounds good. None of that cushy, tourist-trap, homogenized, foreign travel stuff for this doper.

I’ve got a nice camera (well, I like it) and some lenses I want to bring to get good pictures of the city. Are the rooms fairly secure?

(And let me double-check my profile to make sure it has my current address.)

Ah, good thing I did, it was my old address.

If anyone sent me a message before now, I didn’t receive it.

Hey Robot your listed email is outdated…

Preview is your friend. Update it please!

You’re quite right about the importance of previewing, how careless of me.

The current address is correct.

Sorry- that comment was meant for me! I previewed and saw your explanation, thus deleted a bunch of stuff here and then forwarded the info email to your correct address. I wasn’t bein’ a :wally

Well, we’re making a detour to visit Dresden, so we’re off !

::starts car::

Robot Arm, cool a (former?) BostonDoper can join us!

See y’all in Prague !

OK, I think I’ve got my head around that map. The tram stops are labeled “tramvaje” and run down Evropska (Europe street?). So from Dejvika metro we go 4 stops on the tram and then make our way pretty much due South using Liberijska, Pod Kladenskou silnici, Na dlouh em lanu, Za lany, and Nad Borislavkou.

Is this right?

Drive safely, Maastricht, but enjoy the liberties of the Autobahn.

TC, I’ll ask once more, since you missed it last time.
Is the R7 coming into Prague from the north-west the same as Evropska?

Ooh! Ooh!

What’s the Czech word for diesel, and how much is a liter of it over there right now?

I might want to fill up before the Czech-German border on my way home… even diesel is almost a euro a liter now in Holland. :frowning:

I just found out the Czechs call diesel “nafta”. You guys are weird!!

But at least it’s €0.83 a liter there, so yes, I’ll be topping it off.

Just found a map that confirms what little I know about the roads since I don’t own a car…

The R7 used to run straight into Evropska…but then they extended it to the south. So once you get past the airport (Letiste Ruzyne) take the next exit (right exit to a stop-light, turn right onto Evropska). The McDonalds on the left that you pass 1.5k down is across the street from where I live. Keep going and you will pass a KFC on the right after another 2k-ish. After the KFC will be two stoplights. One is a stoplight for a crosswalk, the next is an intersection with a Eurotel building on the left and a yellow fence on the right. Turn right. Then do what kferr just described (cuz he knows what he is talkin’ bout, just from the other direction. And on public transport. Then on foot. But you get the picture.).
