I had to call the mortgage company to get the payoff amount. I have explicit instructions from them to provide a signed purchase agreement ASAP to forestall foreclosure/surrender, and I needed the payoff to finalize the PA. Except, the mortgage people would not give me the payoff because the account was tagged for foreclosure. The definition of Catch-22…
It got resolved; I got my number, and I should have said so. Sorry.
The lady on the other end had to take the foreclosure tag off the account, calculate the payoff, and then put the tag bag. The tag comes off again when they get a copy of the PA.
The petty bureaucracy was appalling, and I’m a FedGov employee, so I have expertise in the issue.
After another gallon of Maalox and 3 complete sets of offer-counter causing the need for said Maalox, we now have a fully accepted offer. Closing is September 15th.
