Praying for Obama's DEATH? Really? That's the depth you nutjobs have sunk to??

Honestly, I’d only pray for white presidents to die. It’s just too dangerous praying for black death.

Ba dum csh!

I’m going to save this quote for the next time somebody criticizes Tea Partiers for denying the racists in their midst. I’m pretty sure it’s a law of the SDMB that when a liberal pits a conservative and get countered with Tu quoque, that the liberal has to refuse to acknowledge that their side ever did anything of the sort. It’s always “But conservatives really are evil!” or something similar.

All of a sudden, a “this guy doesn’t represent the majority” is an OK excuse, gonzo? Fine. I better not see you shoot it down in any Tea Party threads from here on out.

Seriously, we shouldn’t have to cite the numerous “Die, Bush/Cheney” threads on here or on Facebook. If you’ve been paying attention at all, you know they happened.

And just for you, gonzo, you want an example of a big movement that’s liberal and violent? G8 protests. Bam! I win.

 Wait, what?

You honestly find the words “President Joe Biden” scarier than “President Dick Cheney?”
ETA: Actually, it was my understanding that the G8 protests were primarily anarchistic in political flavor, not liberal.

I know you weren’t talking specifically to me, Chessic, but I’m going to address this, anyway:

The first I ever heard–EVER–of this inane “death prayer” joke, which was the original basis for my pit thread, was in the context of someone wishing for Obama’s death. I don’t doubt for a second that liberals have in the past said the same thing about Bush, Cheney, or whomever.

I’m not a big fan of politics. Have never followed it with any real zeal or interest. This would explain why I’ve very rarely been exposed to left-wing hatemongering (whose existence, again and for the record, I don’t deny). The only reason I became aware of the Obama “death prayer” (aka right-wing hatemongering)is that one of my oh-so-godly-and-meek “Christian” relatives had joined the FaceBook group (or “Liked” it, or whatever), and it showed up in my news feed.

For my entire 34 years on this earth, I have until now been aware of this sort of “humorous” political rhetoric. So whatever vitriol or frustration you have for liberal pots who call the kettle black, I ain’t one of 'em. This sort of hateful partisan jesting is NOT acceptable. Ever.

Two more quick things, again, for the record:

  1. I haven’t been on the SDMB for more than a few months. I have never seen any “Die Chaney Die” threads. This is the simple truth. Anyone who states or implies that I have, just doesn’t know what the holy fuck s/he is talking about.

  2. The Christian relative of mine who joined/liked the FaceBook pray-Obama-dead group, later retracted the action and disavowed association with it, on ethical grounds. Much to her credit. I feel it important to acknowledge that.

Now I’m confused too. Didn’t a lot of liberals decide that Bush was Cheney’s puppet? How would president Cheney have been different, then?

And yes. Cheney is a lot smarter than Biden, so his being president would have been less scary.

Apparently Bush smartened up enough during his second term to not reliably do Cheney’s bidding.

Hmmm…intelligent and evil or slightly dim (arguably) and generally benevolent? Which to choose? Which to choose?

Isn’t it weird how some people would choose a leader who can efficiently work against their interests over someone who would inefficiently work for them?

Heh…that’s my exact feelings toward Log Cabin Republicans (and whatever that new gay Republican group that was quasi-sponsoring the CPAC convention is).
