Pre-election pacts in the 2015 UK election

There are hints that the Tory party may stand down candidates in potential UKIP seats where the Tories have no chance and that UKIP will stand down their candidates in seats where the Tory is anti- EC.

What effect will this have? Will Labour and LibDems copy to counteract the effect and try to make a coalition?

It’s impossible to rule anything out completely but it is hard to imagine Labour and the Lib Dems will make any pre-election pact. They hate each other intensely(I doubt either party wishes to be associated in any way with the other). Im also almost 100% certain there will not be an official Tory/UKIP pact. If there is a “pact” it will be unofficial - a lack of Tory big hitters (and Farage) visiting certain marginals etc.

No mention of this in the Wiki article on the next British general election, at least as of today: Next United Kingdom general election - Wikipedia

Where have you picked up these hints? First I have heard of it - I hate doing it but - is a cite possible?

Well, someone somewhere must be talking about it if Cameron felt the need to dismiss the idea.

But OP talks as if there are hints of a pre-election pact being agreed, not that everyone agrees that it can’t and won’t be agreed.
