I was just reading thru this artilce on Snopes:

In a nutshell, it confirms an UL that there were some unexplained stock movements in shares of United Airlines & American Airlines leading up to Sept. 11 and that the “The Chicago Board Options Exchange is investigating each of these trades and at this time is declining to offer comment on its progress”. That was back in 2001.

Does anybody know what became of this?

I haven’t heard anything about it since October, 2001. My guess would be that the SEC was never able to prove wrongdoing. Maybe the terrorists placed the order thru a ‘legitimate’ intermediary or something.

Well then we should have heard who these “intermediaries” were.
