SCOTUS is due in the next few days or weeks to declare whether Guantanamo is deemed to be under US Jurisdiction. This will consider the case of just a few kidnapees. What about the others who have yet to have their lawyers file suit.
1/ What will happen if SCOTUS rules that Bush is not beyond the law?
2/ Given our knowledge about poor treatment and torture of suspects by US orders outside Guantanamo:
Secret US Jails:
would Bush dare transfer most other Gitmo kidnapees to other Jails before their lawyers can file suit in US courts?
3/ Will we wake up one morning to be told that Gitmo is empty save for those kidnapees whose cases have already been heard?
4/ Could he get away with it in an election year, indeed, might it actually help him to be seen as strong on repressing ‘terror’?
