Verily: as per Yes, Minister: government with “the engine of a lawn mower and the brakes of a Rolls-Royce.” or whatever is the US equivalent.
The measure, known as a concurrent resolution, passed by the House Wednesday must be approved by both chambers, but would not go to the president to be signed.
The increase in oil prices are making the voters very unhappy.
Since Trump didn’t have any luck raiding the DoJ’s treasury, I predict he’s going to steal up to 24 billion dollars from Iran, under the guise of distributing it to Gulf allies:
There is no way the US would give this money to allies. To Trump, alliances are nothing more than protection rackets and nobody has been paying for their protection. He thinks every nation in the world has been ripping the US off and thus owes the US (as in Donald Trump himself) everything. So the only way for Trump to make sure that money goes to the right place is for him to keep it for himself. Iranian billions, funnelled to shady corporations that will disappear with the money while Trump complains about how ungrateful the “allies” are for all the “support” he is giving them.
Haven’t read thread (at 143 posts as I write this) - I figure there’s been speculations as to how long Trump can vascillate back and forth between “I made a settement with my dealmaking. The best dealmaking. War over.” and “Kharg will get FLATTENED tonight.” until November?
He’s up to 39 agreements reached for peace in our time.
He seems to be speeding up too. Yesterday alone by my count, he went back and forth 3 times
Pakistan is announcing an agreement has been reached and there will be a signing next Friday. No information on what the supposed deal entails. We’ll see I guess.
I’ll say this about the solidity of that news: It wasn’t directly from Trump.
Iran state media announcing it too. Hmmm. They days they’re regulating traffic in the strait though while Trump said it’d be unimpeded. I only think Iran agrees if they gain something massive and tolling would be one massive thing.
Israel said they’re not interested in the deal. Looks like a nothing burger
Or they’ll just ignore Israel or treat it as a separate matter. It’s not like it would feel bound by any such deal.
Right. Does this mean trouble between trump and Bibi?
Probably; almost inevitably. Trump isn’t going to accept anything but a minion and Netanyahu doesn’t want to be one. Trump turns on people as soon at they fail to be properly utterly subservient to him.
Iran won’t treat it as a separate matter though.
I wouldn’t be so sure. Israel is a sideshow, it’s the US that matters. And they know better than to think that Israel will actually keep its side of any agreement anyway. If they want an agreement they kind of have to ignore Israel.
Trump can’t be trusted either, of course. However he’s an easily distracted fool, and if he can be diverted into some other obsession he’ll leave them alone. If that creates conflict between the US and Israel so much the better.
I dunno it seems a huge part of the problem is that Team Trump really wants for Israel and Iran to somehow decide they want to make Trump look good. Or to at least sit there and pretend they’re OK with whatever he says was agreed.
Well, it seems to be over. But here is an interesting article-
Sound familiar? While déjà vu is technically an illusion of the mind, the above has happened once before. It is both where the Middle East is today, and where it was in April 2025, in the weeks before the first Israeli strikes on Iran last year, and the US attack on its nuclear facilities. The past year may resemble a circle in US-Iranian relations back to the same place, but the trajectory has spiraled downwards, for the US and the region as a whole.
“Full circle” is incredibly kind to Donald—at a level suggesting that the CNN personnel involved in the article are courting his favor.
Factually, Donald has strengthened the brutal repressive Iran regime to a degree no one could have imagined six months ago. He’s left them with their nuclear program and a huge new source of revenue (tolls) to finance both it, and a massive new arsenal of missiles. He’s shown that the USA is too weak to stop the Strait being closed, and too weak to protect the Gulf allies.
And to top it all off, he’s giving them back their own money and paying them billions besides.
Donald has made the US military, if not a laughingstock, at least far less respected.
Congrats, Donny.
The best Donnie can hope for is a return to the Obama negotiated JCPOA, which Trump spitefully tore up. And that is impossible now that Trump has demonstrated to the world that Iran unequivocally controls the strait. Has Iran agreed to unfettered nuclear inspections? Has Iran agreed to sit by and watch Israel bomb Lebanon?
Trump is an incompetent military strategist, and a shitty negotiator.
Republicans naturally admire him.
Also, he’s handed the Iranians a lot of military prestige; they successfully stood up to a superpower.
And internally, few things create more support for the government than bombing by foreigners.
