Preference for Men/Women's Tennis on TV

I guess it’s legit to watch Women’s tennis with the sound off, and just ogle

I manage to watch a couple Grand Slams every year, and when I do, it’s mostly the ladies. The women’s bracket always seems a bit more exciting to me. Cite:

– Who won the men’s singles championship this year?
– (Federer/Djokavic/Nadal) won!
– Oh.

Male checking in.

I skew towards watching men more than women. I’ll watch most any match involving the top tier of both men and women, but when it comes to midranked players, I’ll watch men way more often than watching midranked women.

Mens tennis obviously. its exciting and always manages to put on a good show. Womens tennis is of a poor quality since Graf retired. All you have are the Williams sisters now that the Belgians have retired again.

And the new dresses have cut out the panty shots. Wait, did I just say that aloud?

I prefer the men’s game as a sport; the quality of play is many steps above the women’s game.

I prefer to ogle the women.

Thus, I answered “both equally.”

I don’t watch much tennis at all nowadays but years ago when I played a lot I watched men’s finals but more women’s matches. This was mostly because I could hope to emulate the style of play of the better women but the men were, for various reasons, incomprehensible.

Men

The women’s game at the moment is dire. The outrageous talent of the top men is in a different class.

Definitely, I remember Sampras and Agassi occasionally having rally’s that seemed unreal; whenever I watch the top 3 play each other nowadays, I see rally’s that leave me laughing because of the ridiculousness, twice a game… and I mean twice each servicegame!!

I’m male, but prefer watching women’s tennis, and not just to ogle. I haven’t played tennis in quite a while, but when I was into it, the style of my play is just much more similar to that of professional women (though not even close to the caliber of play). The game the men play is just a different game - power serve after power serve after power serve. I can’t relate to that. I’d much rather watch women play a perfect version of my imperfect playing style, than watch men play a perfect version of something I can’t connect with.

I never watch women’s “sports”

Actually it’s far better with the sound on

I prefer men’s tennis, but I watch a lot of both.

This doesn’t describe the top men’s game at all, even remotely, and hasn’t for almost a decade now.

It used to be closer to even, but for a while now I’ve been watching mostly the men.

Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray are both incredible players and incredibly entertaining players. Crazy shots, crazy court coverage, contrasting styles, just beautiful.

Take out those 4, and it would be about even. The women’s game has lacked superstars lately.

I prefer the women… I’ll watch if certain men are playing… If its John Isner… not a chance in hell… not entertaining to watch either he or Roddick to me…

On a sluggish weekend afternoon, I might nap through watching women play.

Mahut was robbed.

Second year in a row I haven’t watched a single grand slam event. I feel cheated. I prefer watching men’s tennis – generally just better performance, and I don’t get distracted trying to grab an upskirt of Sharapova. Plus, longer matches by definition.

Network TV is just awful at tennis coverage, unless they’ve changed things. Baseball too. Two of the most fun sports to watch, and they can’t even make a halfway effort to televise.

The women have nicer legs.
