Premiers Sat, May 10: The Judd Family: Truth Be Told

I have always enjoyed the Judd’s laid back, wholesome country. I kept my ticket stubbs from their 1989 concert. My wife and I had a wonderful time.

They were marketed as squeaky clean Mother/daughter duo. But they were real people with problems.

Naomi was a single parent struggling to pay the bills on a nurse’s salary. I’ve wondered how actively she pursued music in her younger days. Maybe the documentary will answer that for me.

There was something special when Naomi and Wynonna Judd voices harmonized on stage.

Ashley was the younger daughter that went into acting.

I think most people agree Wynonna has the stronger voice. But Naomi was a good entertainer. She added a lot to the duo.

It will premiere on Lifetime May 10. Then will probably repeat several times.

Live performance

I found out tonight this is a multi episode series.

I’m impressed with the depth of reseach. They interview the original manager and producer. Discussed how they crafted the sound for the Judds.

People forget the Judds were hugely successful. The Judds and Alabama dominated 80’s country.

I excited to learn more about how a recording duo were made so successful. This is interesting music history. How the Nashville machine used to work.
