Preparing for my viva

I have just finsihed writing my PhD thesis and hope to print it and submit it this week.

The next step is my viva examination, does anyone have any suggestions as to how best to prepare for this please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Depends on your choice of study, but

  1. Try to get as much practice time with your supervisor as they can give you.

  2. Make sure you are absolutely clear on your reasons for choosing any techniques or methods.

  3. If any of your decisions are contentious or lots of people (potentially including your examiners) are not up to date on, make sure you are ready to make a solid argument for your choices.

  4. Have a think before hand about words or concepts that you tend to get muddled.

  5. Check your pronunciations for any words that you don’t say much, and make sure you are clear what abbreviations stand for.

  6. If a criticism is fair, be ready to accept it and move on as quickly as possible.

Good Luck
